In the mid-1900s Rakusan published more than four hundred woodblock prints of flowers and birds in four sets. Two of the sets were printed in black and white while the other two were printed in full color. Pictures 1-20 in this gallery were part of a full color set of one hundred very large prints (570 mm wide x 420 mm high), each of which had a wide picture border. Click on a picture to enlarge it. The flowers and birds depicted were drawn very accurately and their names were given in the bottom picture border. Pictures 21-25 come from the other full color set of thirty-six smaller pictures (380 mm wide x 255 mm high) with a much narrower picture border. The flowers and birds depicted were drawn less accurately and were un-named. To see more of Rakusan's prints click here.
